In part two of heat magazine’s exclusive interview with Imogen Thomas, the woman at the centre of the affair that shook showbiz reveals why WAGs are cheated on and why women should avoid dating married men.
How many people around you knew about this relationship?
I would say maybe three or four.
So, it was kept very private?
Very private, and they only knew about five months into it. My mum knew from day one.
Did she warn you off him?
Of course. Mum never wanted me to be with a married man, never. I’ve been brought up in an amazing way, my mum’s a single parent. She taught me what was right and wrong and I knew it was wrong. I put my hands up and say that I’m really, really sorry, but we both knew it was wrong, but you can’t... My mum was always telling me, “You do not want to be in that position, Imogen. You will be hurt, you will have times where you will hate it, when he doesn’t call, and you don’t want to be the other woman”. But as time goes on, you can’t help it. One thing I can say for certain now is that I will not look at another married man again.
What advice would you give to other girls?
Don’t get involved with a married man, really don’t. It’s a car crash waiting to happen whether you’re in the public eye or not. You are always going to get hurt. You always are, and if you can control your feelings, get out of it as soon as you can.
Why is it that WAGs always seem to stay with their cheating men?
It’s the lifestyle. I personally believe it’s lifestyle. There are some WAGs who will hate me for saying it. They have the choice to walk away or put up with it. The reason why some footballers cheat is because they can get away with it.
Is there anything that you would like to say, that you haven’t yet?
I’m not a horrible person. I’m sorry and I have got feelings as well. To everyone that thinks nasty of me, I am someone’s daughter. Imagine if your family had to go through this. It’s really hard.
