There’s been a lot of drama surrounding Lily Allen’s wedding, what with her (Heat-inspired!) invite being leaked, all that Kate Moss rivalry and the usual slanging matches that seem to follow lippy Lily, but she’s finally got hitched to her builder beau, Sam Cooper! And doesn’t she make a beeaaaautiful bride. To top it all off, the happy couple used their low-key reception to announce that they're having a baby! Double yay!!
It seems Lily did get the intimate ceremony she was after as less than 100 close friends and family watched the radiant star walk down the aisle at the quaint St James Church in Cranham, Gloucestershire. Of course, given her showbiz credentials, those ‘close friends’ did include a fair few celebs – family pals Harry Enfield and Angus Deayton were among the crowd and Miquita Oliver, who wore a floaty peach number, was one of her bridesmaids. Security was inevitably tight and privacy-conscious Lil even shelled out for extra policing but thankfully that didn’t stop us from getting some lovely pics!
After a particularly tough year, the singer/designer/Twitter addict looked happy as Larry - glowing some might say - as she emerged from the church with her ‘normal’ husband in a gorgeous 20s-inspired Chanel dress. The lace creation, which had a touch of the K-Middy about it, was designed by the very sophisticated sounding, Delphine Manivet and did an excellent job of skimming over her growing belly. She teamed the retro-style dress with an elaborate floral headdress (which made her look a little bit like a bridal version of Princess Leia) and a pretty bouquet of peach, pale blue and cream. All very English country garden.
Continuing the old-fashioned theme, the new Mrs Cooper and her proud hubby started married life in style, driving off in a vintage Bentley to their nearby country pile, where the reception was taking place (we reckon their garden's a bit bigger than ours).
The newlyweds wasted no time in sharing their happy news - Sam did the honours at the wedding breakfast. According to one of the guests, speaking to the Daily Mail: 'There were tears all round. This is the icing on the wedding cake!' It sure is. We do love a happy ever after...congrats, Lily and Sam!
