Funny man and all-round sexy beast Will Smith has spoken out about marriage from a man’s perspective, and given us some very sound advice indeed.
Speaking to Essence Magazine, Will said that if you marry your best friend and remind your man what he once was, you’re guaranteed a happy marriage. Apparently, all we need to do is marry our ‘homie’ (that’s best friend to you and me), and if we’re going to nag, look deep into his eyes and tell him we love him as we do it, all intense like. Well, the second part seems a tad too ‘Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction’ for our taste, but the rest of it sounds great! Will told the mag:
“Every man wants to marry his homie, a lot of women will impress them, but it’s the one they can always laugh with and be themselves with that will ultimately impress them the most. If you can be yourselves around each other, 100% of the time, and they can make your life like no one else can, you’ll never have a dull moment together.”
A sweet sentiment from the actor, who has been happily married to fellow actress Jada Pinkett Smith for the past 14 years. So we can imagine that time included a fair bit of nagging, but Will has the solution to this common problem:
“Hold him close, look him right in the eyes, and tell him that you love him, you’re right there, and you always will be, BUT you need him to pick his socks up – right now…it’s important to remind him that your request is coming from a good place, and what you want is a small thing in the grand scheme of things.”
We’ll add be his bezzie and eye contact to our list then, though we’re not sure how well eye contact will go down when he’s trying to swat us away with his Xbox controller.
