As celebrity baby names go, Willow Sage isn’t too crazy – but new mum Pink must have taken some stick for her name choices, because she’s now explained the meanings behind her new daughter’s moniker.
"The willow is my favourite tree,” Pink tells People. “I grew up near one. It's the most flexible tree in nature and nothing can break it – no wind, no elements. It can bend and withstand anything. I love that sentiment. I want that for her.” Of Willow’s second name, Pink explains, "Sage is cleansing and sacred. And it sounded great together. It doesn't hurt that her last name is Hart – flexible cleansed heart."
Er, Willow Sage Hart definitely has more of a ring to it than Flexible, Cleansed, Heart. And actually we think Willow Sage is an adorable name anyway, even before Pink justified her decisions.
Hard labour
As well as talking about baby names, Pink has also opened up about childbirth – admitting that her plans for a natural birth had to be abandoned. “I was really looking forward to the whole rite of passage – giving birth perfectly present, unmedicated, in the way nature intended.” Continues the singer, “She was in the frank breech position, which is head up with her legs up by her head in a pike position. We tried everything to turn her around. Turns out this little girl had other plans – she is my daughter, after all.”
We have no idea what a "frank breech position" is; sounds bloody painful though.
