Thanks to their make-up loving on-screen alter-egos, we’re used to seeing the Hollyoaks girls covered in slap. But what do they look like once heat’s been at them with our magic make-up removing pads. Well, it’s time to find out, as the girls of Hollyoaks go make-up free.
Rachel Shenton aka Mitzeee, age 24
“My character wears a lot of make-up, but I don’t tend to, so I think it’s a nice opportunity to show that. I like being make-up free. I think sometimes it’s like a mask – you feel people can’t see you in make-up. Sometimes in work I’m in make-up for hours, cos my character wears so much. It’s important to know that if you’ve got a spot or look a bit rough one day, it’s just normal.”
Bronagh Waugh aka Cheryl, age 28
I think it’s really good to see celebs without their make-up. I remember seeing these kind of shoots myself and they just made me feel a bit better. So maybe people seeing me looking this rough will do the same. I always say if I could change one thing it would be my skin. I have eczema and I don’t get spots, but if I’ve eaten something I’m allergic to, I can react. It’s something lots of teenagers go through, too, and for me it was cripplingly debilitating. I’ll always bump into someone or get papped when I’ve got none on. I think people look prettier without make-up – plus, if a boy sees you too made up, what’s he going to think in the morning when you take it all off?
