Amy Winehouse couldn’t cope with alcohol withdrawal
Amy Winehouse’s family are apparently convinced that the tragic singer died because her body couldn’t cope after she gave up drinking.
According to a source close to the Winehouse family, the 27-year-old had been advised to give up drinking slowly, but instead Amy had stopped completely. Her family now believe her body couldn’t cope, and the withdrawal caused a seizure.
“Abstinence gave her body such a fright they thought it was eventually the cause of her death,” a source tells The Sun today.
“He [Mitch Winehouse] said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs. Amy told him she couldn't do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely. Mitch allegedly said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take."
With a toxicology report a month away from being processed Amy’s family sadly have a long wait to get the answers they want about the cause of her death.
