Pete Doherty's Amy Winehouse tribute

Pete Doherty's Amy Winehouse tribute

Clean-cut DJ Mark Ronson took to the stage after Amy Winehouse’s funeral, dedicating his show to her. Now old party pal Pete Doherty is set to do the same.

The ex-Libertines singer is reportedly planning on dedicating his shows at Reading and Leeds Festivals to the late singer. Maybe his recent stint in jail gave him time to think and reflect? Pete got out of the clink last month after serving only two months of a six-month sentence for cocaine possession. According to reports in the Daily Star On Sunday, Pete wants to do something special to mark the death of his talented pal.

“Pete was really good mates with Amy and he’s still really cut up about her death. He hopes to help get rid of his demons by dedicating his festival gigs to her memory. He loved her music and hopes he can do it justice,” said a source.

A video of the pair, apparently high on drugs, playing with baby mice appeared on YouTube in 2008. In the video, named Winemouse, Amy is seen picking up one of the tiny creatures and saying to the camera, “"Blake, please don't divorce mummy. She loves you ever so.” A message of love to your imprisoned hubby via a baby mouse? Amy, with the help of a scummy-fingered Pete, gave it a go.

Amy’s untimely death hit has the singer hard.

“I'm struggling with f***ing everything because I'm so bewildered about what happened to Amy. I was in bed when I heard the news of her death. Someone had to wake me up to tell me. I couldn't take it in and still can't. Coming to terms with what has happened is almost impossible. It's hard to think she's not with us anymore.”

Hopefully this will be the wake up call Pete needs to finally get clean and sober.

love pete he is soo frickin talented and its such a shame he's a messed up smackhead. I do think there is a certain hypocracy with these two as they were both into hardcore stuff and lived scummy lives. he is an amazing songwriter and has received critical aclaim, yet she's idolised and people hate him. dont get it. she realeased one amazing album but her second one was just okay imo. pete pee's on her with his poetry...

i think in any circumstance of someone dying, the family should be left alone for the first week or two. of course the media were going to go around saying all this stuff but coming out with essays (which lets face it, HEAVILY refereneced himself) straight after the death. pete and amy hung out loads and both were very creative with writing music and lyrics etc. mark ronson is a complete knob in my opinion and is only on the map because of valerie. and valerie was successful because of amy's voice, no more no less. i don't care who "produced" (i'd love to know what that involves actually). musical soulmate? musical cashcow more like.

I agree misszippy. It does sound a bit more heartfelt because he's waited and been respectful. He also would know and understand the addiction a lot more than other celebs that have commented. I think it takes guts for someone like Pete to comment on death/addiction. I know I'll get slated for saying this, but I respect him even more now.

as much as it might annoy people, i think that amy had a much deeper connection with Pete (very creative, odd behaviour, deeply involved in drugs) than the Mark Ronson's and Russel Brands of this world. and i think that the fact he's left it till now to pay tribute to her rather than hopping on the bandwagon one or two days after the death.
