Simon who? X Factor pulls in 12 million viewers

If the people in charge of The X Factor were worried that viewers would switch off over the revamped judging panel, they needn't have panicked.

This weekend's launch episode equalled the record for the highest number of viewers for a first show, with a peak audience of 12.6 million tuning in to see new judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, and Kelly Rowland rate and slate pop star hopefuls along with veteran judge Louis Walsh

An ITV executive told The Mirror, “We were worried how people would take to the new panel but it’s been nothing but a resounding success. They are fantastic figures. Cowell’s absence hasn’t hurt us.”
