Adele originally penned the Someone Like You to help get over the heartbreak of losing the fella she loved. Yeah, she probably spent a few nights crying into a giant glass of wine with her mates too but writing down how rubbish she was feeling, helped the red-haired singer get through the heartbreak.
Adele has said of the song, "When I was writing it I was feeling pretty miserable and pretty lonely. I can imagine being about 40 and looking for him again, only to turn up and find that he's settled with a beautiful wife and beautiful kids and he's completely happy... and I'm still on my own. The song's about that and I'm scared at the thought of that."
Though the song might have netted her a fair amount of critical acclaim and helped her album, 21, reached the dizzy heights of the top of the album chart, don’t expect Adele to be spilling her latest relationship misery out onto a piece of paper.
Appearing on Jonathan Ross’ new show at the weekend, Adele said she’s not going to write about the bloke who hurt her earlier this year.
"I got a bit burnt back in May, around my birthday, and I know he would be over the moon if I wrote a record about him. But no way is that boy getting a record about him. No way."
So, mystery man, you a) lost and hurt an amazing lady and, b) won’t be getting a fame-inducing hit song written about you. Life sucks, right?
We hope Adele finds someone who she can write sweet, happy, smile-so-much-your-face-hurts songs about.
