Example slags off Will Young

By now, everyone is fully aware that Example is the gobbiest bloke in all of pop, after fights with The Saturdays, Alexandra Burke and Cher Lloyd. But this time it’s the boys Example is laying in to, in the shape of Will Young and his new single Jealousy.

“He’s had his moment, hasn’t he?” he says. “That song’s awful. That song should be on Songs Of Praise. It’s awful.” (At this point, we’re going to wade in and declare our stance on Jealousy… it’s AMAZING, so yah boo sucks).

But it wasn’t all nasty, because he said Will was actually credible. Once.

“Will Young has had his moment,” he adds. “He was good, he was one of the only credible people to come off that show – what was it called, Popstars?” Oh dear.

One pop type who scores highly on Example’s chart of good is Dappy from NDubz, who he says is “superb”.

“Dappy is an incredible songwriter,” he says. “I think NDubz are a bit marmite for some people. I think Dappy’s great, his melodies are superb. There aren’t many young pop acts who write their own stuff and NDubz genuinely do write and produce their own stuff which I think gives them integrity.”

Well that’s nice, isn’t it?

Don't you mean "someone who speaks what passes for his mind"?

Is there anyone he hasn't slagged off? Hey Example, Faithless called. They want their songs back. Thanks.

Lets see if this irritating piece of puke is still around in ten years. Will Young's Jealousy is a great track and his album is brilliant too.

Gotta love Example for not giving a shit and speaking his mind, I absolutely love him and his new album is pretty damn fine too. I do love Wills new single though although not much of his other stuff.

Also, "gobbiest bloke in pop"? Do you mean "someone who speaks his mind"? HW staff: you're idiots.

These quotes have been taken out of context. It was a brilliant interview. How nice to hear an intelligent, quick-witted artist who has opinions! Makes a change from the usual bland types who don't say anything bad about anyone (that's you Fearne Cotton/Zane Lowe/a gazillion pop singers). Nothing wrong with expressing opinions! (And, if you listen to the interview, you will clearly hear that he is not slagging people off.)

To be fair though, Will Young's last single was a big pile of poo

I heard this interview on the Chris Moyles show and he was honest about who he likes and doesn't like, it's refreshing to hear such honesty. And he wasn't being mean or rude, just discussed his personal preferences
