Light entertainment legend Bruce Forsyth is now officially SIR Bruce Forsyth. Congratulations, Bruice. And about time too!
The 83-year-old Strictly Come Dancing presenter has been in showbusiness for an incredibly 70 years, making his way from the musical halls on to our TV screens in shows like The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right and of course Strictly. Sir Bruce Forsyth has collected his knighthood from the Queen for services to entertainment.
Speaking about receiving his knighthood, Bruce said it was “absolutely wonderful”, and he announced that he has no plans to retire just yet,
“Entertaining - it's been the only thing I've ever wanted to do and I've done it for many, many years. Who feels like quitting? I want to go on.
“When I got the CBE there'd been speculation every year and I think there's been too much talk about it, so I'm thrilled at last it has happened.
“I just love getting out there and performing and this is a reward that I never expected and hope I'm worthy of.”
Strictly co-host Tess Daly has been quick to congratulate Bruce, saying on This Morning earlier today, “Ah isn't it wonderful. I shall have to curtsey before him on Saturday night! He'll love that. I'm so happy for him and he's thrilled to bits. Genuinely thrilled.”
When Bruce met the Queen do you think he said, “Nice to see you, to see you nice”?
