With Rihanna-for-their-new-album/">Coldplay’s crooning and heartfelt lyrics, we've never really pictured the band as the Rock N Roll, TV out the window type. However, lead singer Chris Martin has let us in on a little secret and confessed that the band did dabble in the dark side of rock-pop, which included alcohol and drugs.
The band are well known for their clean image, and Chris is a self-professed teetotaller. He now claims that the band are past their heavy party phase, and now when on tour they suffer from a big sense of loneliness. We supposed when you’re married to a beautiful Oscar winning actress, you’ll want to get home pretty sharpish. The singer says,
"Success and fame, alcohol and drugs. We've been through all of those things…They're just pitfalls, and that comes from a lot of travelling and a lot of down time…We split our songwriting credits and everything we get, we split it equally. It means when one of us is having a hard time or a problem, then we all have the best interests of each other at heart."
Aww, that’s what we like to hear, a bit of brotherly love amongst a band. When asked the best thing about his marriage to actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris said,
"Coming home to an Oscar winner…It's not all bad. As you get older, you have kids, but there is also a lot more sadness.” Sadness? With all that money, a gorge wife and 2 kids?
Well they better suck it up. After just releasing their fifth album Mylo Xyloto, there’s bound to be a heck of a lot more touring on the cards for these boys.
