heat caught up with Steps to find out if they’ve really have patched things up, how they feel about going on tour, and if Claire and H feel like the baddies for splitting up the band all those years ago.
So, is it really a happy ending for Steps?
H: We’ve dealt with all of that sh*t. Let’s just move on!
Lee: Now we can talk about things openly. I’m not saying things are 100 per cent rosy, but generally we’re on the same page. It’s just a risk you take. You may never forget, but you can choose to forgive.
Claire: I can’t wait to get on that stage and do what we do. Even though I’m a bit worried about how I’ll keep the tears away. [Welling up] I know the first time we hear and see that crowd on the first tour night, I’m just going to lose it.
H and Claire – how do you feel about being referred to as the “baddies” for forcing the split?
Claire: At the end of the day this is a job for us. If we all worked in an office together and two of us resigned, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. We didn’t leave out of spite to ruin people’s lives. It’s because of how we felt and what we were going through. I don’t feel like a baddie. I did what I had to do at the time.
