We continue to be baffled by this Hollywood trend of renewing your wedding vows every 15 minutes (yes, Mariah Carey, we do mean you), but this latest ceremony is pretty extreme even by Mimi's standards. Kim Kardashian and her giant husband Kris Humphries only tied the knot five weeks ago, but this weekend they renewed their vows - in front of a TV audience.
Kim and Kris were invited to say their "I dos" for the second time during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' chat show in the US. It turns out that Ellen wasn't at the original wedding, and so thought it only fair that she get to see the couple say their vows. Right, that makes perfect sense.
"We are gathered here today because we are the only 300 people who weren't invited to Kim and Kris' wedding," Ellen, who was officiating the ceremony, joked to her studio audience. "It's been five weeks since your wedding, which is a long time for reality TV stars, so it's time to renew your vows."
As well as promising to "love, honour and keep up with" his wife Kim, Kris was also asked to swear to buy a copy of Ellen's new book. Bit cheeky, but then that's what we all love about Ellen.
Other famous couples who have walked down renewal aisle include Heidi Klum and Seal, Josh Duhamel and Fergie, David Schwimmer and his wife Zoe, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green and, of course, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. We think Prince Wills and K-Middy should do an annual renewal of vows, too, with all the fanfare of the actual royal wedding. Then, not only would we get to see Prince Harry in all his sexy get-up, but we'd also get an extra day off work every year - bonus!
