Remember the gorgeous polka dot chiffon dress that Amy Winehouse wore on the front of her Back to Black auction? Well, it’s been sold for a huge amount of money – a staggering £40,000 in fact!
The pretty dress was bought by a South American fashion museum, which donated all proceeds to the foundation set up by the singer’s family. A worthy cause obviously, but blimey – that’s a lot of money!
Of course, it's a lovely way to remember the legendary singer who sadly passed away at her home in Camden in July after a battle with drink and drugs.
Amy’s dad, Mitch, was thereto see the item of clothing auctioned off to the Chilean Museo de la Moda.
He revealed, “Amy would be so proud that her name is making a difference to young lives and especially that her music is directly making life better for vulnerable young people.”
Now the dress will be available for fans in South America to visit and pay tribute towards. But Mitch reckons in future, donations might be made a lot closer to home.
“We are particularly keen to make donations in Camden, a place very close to the family's hearts as Amy's home,” he admitted. “We are researching and meeting with different groups who offer support in the areas we wish to fund.”
Amy’s gorgeous dress was up for auction alongside frocks by other incredible icons, like the amazing Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana.
And a final album of Amy’s unreleased tracks called Lioness: Hidden Treasures will be released on Monday - with £1 from each copy sold also going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
