Being one of the Beckham children must be pretty great. First of all, your dad is one of the world's most-famous footballers and your mum is a former Spice Girl. Then there's all the wealth, the sunny LA lifestyle, the many lunches cooked by Gordon Ramsay, the hanging out with Justin Bieber. OK, that last one isn't great by everyone's standards, but you get our point. However, dad Becks has admitted in a new interview that he worries about the fact that his children want for nothing - and that he hopes it doesn't affect their ambitions as they grow up.
"They've got a great life set up for them," David told The Times about Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, nine, Cruz, six, and baby Harper. "Obviously our boys and little girl are very lucky. But I think, as a parent, you always worry. 'Have the got the hunger that I had as a kid?'" David, who himself had a modest upbringing in Leytonstone, London, trained every day under the close and encouraging eye of his dad Pete, went on to say that he tries to treat his own children the same way as his own parents did.
"I'm as hard on my boys as my dad was. They'll always ask, 'Did I play well?' and I'll say, 'You did alright. You could have done better.' My dad was strict - I'm exactly the same with my boys. They have their feet on the ground."
Is it just us who finds the idea of David being strict quite a tough one to get your head around? He's always so sweet and softly spoken. There's no doubt that he's absolutely besotted with new baby Harper. Imagine being the first boyfriend she brings home one day? Not only will they have to contend with a protective dad, but three big brothers, too.
