It's finally happened - and we all knew it would. After over a year of cheating allegations against her husband Ashton Kutcher, actress Demi Moore has finally filed for divorce. The couple who married back in September 2005 have suffered from a very rocky relationship (especially in the last few years), with the most recent rumours of Ashton's infidelity being the final blow for 49-year-old Demi.
Tonight, she released the following statement. It's sad, but we're glad she's found the strength to do it.
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."
Ashton Kutcher meanwhile took to Twitter (obviously) to share his feelings about the whole thing. Here's what he had to say,
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK"
Rumours first began of Ashton's unfaithfulness towards his wife 14 months ago, when he was accused of having a tawdry night of passion with a blonde. But Demi defended her man at the time, while he claimed he was completely innocent. This year, though, he wasn't so lucky - and explicit details of his night of passion with another blonde, Sara Leal, was leaked to the press by said blonde's best mate. And it seemed that not only had the 33-year-old allegedy cheated on Demi again - but this time he had cheated on her on the night of their six-year anniversary. Since the reports surfaced, Demi has been spotted out looking very upset and extremely thin - in fact, friends have even raised concerns that she hasn't been eating well.
Hmm, we're sad to see another Hollywood couple go their separate ways, but frankly Demi deserves better. Ashton, we hope you've learned your lesson.
