They only announced their divorce yesterday, but Demi Moore is already moving on from her marriage to Ashton Kutcher. After over a year of rumours and speculation about Ashton's extra-marital naughtiness, Demi finally decided that enough was enough and told the world that she and the actor were going to go their separate ways. Now friends of the 49-year-old actress have come forward to reassure us all that Demi is doing OK, and that she's actually feeling quite positive about the whole thing. "She said [she] was going to change for the better," a friend told US Weekly. "And [she said] that it was time for her to focus on herself again and her girls."
Demi of course has three daughters – Rumer, 23, Scout, 20 and Tallulah, 17 – from her previous marriage to actor Bruce Willis. Demi and Ashton had been together for six years, and for most of that time were thought to be one of the strongest couples in Hollywood. Bruce Willis was reported to have offered the flailing couple his lodge to use as a base while they worked through their problems, but it seems that unfortunately it was too late.
Demi said in her statement that it was with "a great sadness and a heavy heart" that she and Ashton were ending their marriage, while the Two And A Half Men actor took to his Twitter and simply said, "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail."
Things started to go wrong for the couple after Ashton was rumoured to have cheated – most recently with a 22-year-old Sara Leal, who was alleged to have had a one-night stand with Ashton after he told her that he and Demi were already separated.
With Ashton already back at work and Demi telling friends that she's ready to move on with her life, it looks as if the couple aren't taking any time out to dwell on what went wrong. We also don't think it will be very long before both of them are snapped up by new people. We just hope Demi gets there first…
