It's official: we love Hugh Jackman's wife.Deborra-Lee Furness has been talking about what it's like being married to one of the world's most lusted-after men, and it turns out that it's not all glitz and glamour. For a start, poor Deborra-Lee has had to put up with a lot of cruel remarks about her age (she's 55, Hugh's 43) and her weight, plus she gets pushed around by her husband's fans.
"Literally, they will push you out of the way," Deborra-Lee tells the New York Post, adding that she's been "almost pummeled" by what she describes as "Hughophiles". Deborra and Hugh have been married for 15 years now, and Mrs Jackman is 100 per cent confident that her marriage is rock-solid. "Hugh is much more mature than me, so we balance each other out," she says. "And heaven forbid I have a human experience and carry a little weight." We love the fact that she tells it how it is, and that she clearly doesn't let all the stupid criticism get to her. After all, it can't be easy knowing that half the female (and probably male) population of the planet want to get their mitts on your man.
Deborra also laughed off questions about Hugh's sexuality, saying simply, "Hugh and I don’t pay much heed. It’s kind of tragic that these people have nothing better to do than gossip about people they don’t know." We don't know Deborra, but that doesn't stop us being a tiny bit obsessed with her!
