Kirsten Dunst revealed on US TV today that she has suffered with depression in the past, but chose to not speak about it until now.
After it emerged that Kirsten had gone to rehab to deal with her depression back in 2008 talk show host, Ellen Degeneres approached the subject carefully saying:
"There is no way to bring it up without saying what it is -- you suffered from depression."
To which Kirsten openly and calmly responded:
"It's not something I feel like totally comfortable talking about but yeah, it's a very personal thing."
Kirsten also said how she blamed the demands placed on her as an actress in part for her condition:
"That and it’s also interesting as an actress you’re supposed to be sensitive and vulnerable and have this side to you. But then you're supposed to be super sociable and 'on' and like nice to everybody. That’s a weird dichotomy. It’s a lot to ask of a person. It’s not a normal thing."
However, the Virgin Suicides actress managed to make a full recovery and is currently promoting her latest movie, Melancholia.
