The very handsome Artem Chigvintsev has inadvertently caused quite a bit of controversy for this latest series of Strictly Come Dancing. After hooking up with former Eastenders star and ex-dance partner Kara Tointon, the uber-tanned dancer has been paired up with the equally gorgeous Australian singer and actress Holly Valance. We always wondered how Kara would take the news, and whether the pairing would put strain on their relationship, however it looks as if Kara need worry no more as Artem could now be quitting the show due to injury!
Artem has reportedly fractured a bone in his spine during training, but he managed to soldier on through his Saturday night performance. However, the pain became too much to bear for the dancer who then pulled out of a group performance.
When asked whether Artem would be appearing on the show alongside Holly this Saturday, insiders say it’s “Touch and go”. We imagine Holly is also quite stressed over the situation, as the dancing duo were tipped to win the show.
In the meantime Holly has been practising with fellow Strictly star Brendan Cole during rehearsals whilst Artem gathers strength. Brendan was booted off of the show with partner Lulu last week but it looks as though he may be returning as Holly’s new partner, that is if Artem is still unable to dance.
A Strictly spokesperson has confirmed Artem’s injury but also says that it might not hold him back from performing on Saturday. Watch this space.
