Michael Buble is usually one of the most funny, charming and sweet celebrities you could ever hope to meet. But he once had it in for Simon Cowell.
Back in 2007 when Michael was booked to play on American Idol it all went a bit wrong when Simon directed one if his infamous eye-rolls at The Buble.
“I had to sing Call Me Irresponsible in front of 20 million people. And the first thing I saw when I got on stage was Simon. I sang about four lines and he looked at me and did this [he rolls his eyes] and that was it, I was done,” talking about the incident now, Michael tells the Radio Times this week, “It killed me. My confidence dropped... I become aloof [when I lose my confidence]. I get the attitude of, 'Oh really? Well, f**k you. You don't like me? Then go f**k yourself. I'm just gonna do whatever.”
Drunk and bored
The Canadian crooner also admits that the entire incident sparked off rumours that he was drunk on stage,
“If you watch the clip on YouTube, I'm so aloof I look bored. And it became quite a thing for me in America because all the news agencies started to report that I was drunk. But I'm such a control freak I would never drink before going on stage.”
Watching the clip above, we think we've actually pin-pointed the moment Si rolled his eyes - look Michael's face at the 0:42 second mark, he looks like he might actually cry...
The story doesn’t end there though. Mikey was clearly so upset by the incident that he couldnn't helo mentioning the whole affair to Dannii Minogue when he was on The X Factor. She marched right up to Simon and (we like to think) gave him a telling off about it.
“I told her the story. She goes and tells him, and comes back saying, 'The man didn't even know he did it'. He was just probably sitting on his fifth hour of the show going, 'Kill me now... and I've got to go to the bathroom.’
“But I'm so sensitive I took it as a rejection. Anyway, every time I've ever talked to him since then he's been incredibly nice.”
We’ve got just one question… How does Michael Buble makes simultaneous crack up laughing and have an uncontrollable urge to give him a huge comforting, “there there” hug? How?
