This is our favourite story of the week… Apparently Hollywood mega star Tom Cruise isn’t quite so popular across the globe as he is here and in the US.
Get this… Tom had to pay extras to meet him/scream hysterically/generally act that they gave a toss at Mumbai Airport recently. And when we say Tom, it was more likely to be one of his minions, but trust us when we say this gossip is still brilliant!
A crowd of over 200 people gathered at Mumbai airport to make Tom feel welcome, but according to Firstpostbollywood.com they actually had no idea who Tom is and had been hired to be there,
“Tom kaun? I don’t know who he is or what he does. We were told to come here by 1pm today and wait for a foreign VIP to come out of the airport gate and scream and shout when he came. None of us know who Tom is. There was a buffet lunch also for us and we were paid Rs 150 [$3} for this job today. We do this for television shows and other such events where crowds are required,” one brilliantly indiscreet extra said.
We’re sure that at the time Tom had no idea his adoring fans were in fact paid extras, but we imagine he’s going to find out about it soon, and when he does… HOW embarrassing is that going to be?
