Jennifer Lopez has spoken for the first time about her daughter Emme’s health scare back in 2008.
The singer and actress has revealed that her daughter had to undergo a series of grueling medical tests – including an MRI scan – when Jennifer and her then-husband found a lump on their baby’s head shortly after Emme and twin brother Max were born in 2008.
“I just remember that feeling of, ‘Something is wrong with my baby and I'm gonna die’. I remember looking at Marc and going, 'We should call the doctor'. I started panicking a little bit and he was panicking,” Jen reveled to CNN’s upcoming Big Stars, Big Giving special.
Continues the I’m Into You singer, “We were thinking, 'Did somebody drop her when we weren't looking?' I just remember looking at Marc and saying, ‘If Emme's not going to be okay, I'm not going to be okay’. He's like, ‘I'm not going to be okay - none of us are going to be okay.’”
Fortunately Emme was fine, but the incident spurred J-Lo on to set up a charitable foundation for the health and wellbeing of children, which she called the Maribel Foundation after Marc Anthony’s sister who died at the age of nine from brain cancer.
