Peter Andre doesn’t mess about. Just days after returning from the I’m A Celebrity… jungle, he’s teamed up with blond buffoon (and London Mayor) Boris Johnson to launch a campaign to boost London’s libraries.
At the event Shepherd’s Bush library in London, the pair promoted the mayor's new literacy initiatives etc blah blah blah, and Peter said that he loves reading to Junior, Princess and Harvey at night before they go to bed.
“That last 15 minutes before children go to sleep, that’s what they’re going to remember through the night.
"That’s why it’s bad if they’ve been playing a video game or something like that, but if they’ve been listening to a book they’ll wake up feeling clear.
"That’s why reading’s so important, I’m a strong believer in that.”
Peter the bookworm
The pop singer knows what he’s talking about. His own literary credentials extend much further than inventing the word ‘insania’ – he’s written a series of children’s books such as
A New Day At School and
A Happy Birthday Party.
After checking out the library’s new facilities, Peter told the Evening Standard what he thinks makes a great library: “This is like a whole new generation of libraries. I can’t believe they’ve got a celebrities section."
“I used to take my kids to places where there were books but not libraries because it made them feel too much like they were at school again.”
Our local Wetherspoons has books in it, but we’re pretty sure Peter hasn’t taken the kids there, though!
