UPDATE: After initial reports that Beyonce and Jay-Z have named their daughter Ivy Blue, it’s now been confirmed that the newborn is actually called Blue Ivy Carter.
Bey’s celeb friend Gwyneth Paltrow has taken to Twitter to clear up the confusion. Saying to her followers, "RT @Sparrow_Teague @GwynethPaltrow is it ivy blue, or blue ivy? So confused….. It’s Blue Ivy Carter."
While Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles also said on the mirco-blogging site, “Information that goes through the telephone always gets delivered wrong.”
We’ve had one false start already – gossip circulated during Christmas that Beyonce Knowles had given birth – but there are now fresh reports that Beyonce has had her baby, and this time there’s also a name for the child. Bey and Jay-Z are thought to have named their daughter Ivy Blue Carter. Cute name, no?
The 30-year-old R&B super star is thought to have delivered little Ivy via a scheduled caesarean section at Lenonx Hill hospital in New York on Saturday. E! News reports that the entire fourth floor of the hospital was closed for Beyonce’s exclusive use and that only the medical team helping with the delivery were allowed access to the floor.
Celebrity pal Rihanna has already tweeted to say congratulations to the new parents, saying on the mirco-blogging site, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
Beyonce made a very public announcement about her pregnancy during the MTV EMAs last year, and was rather horribly subjected to nasty speculation that her pregnancy was a fake and that she was using a surrogate to carry the baby.
