It has been widely reported that Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z splashed out for the birth of baby Blue Ivy Carter last Saturday, spending $1.3 million on the hire and redecoration of an entire hospital maternity wing at the Lennox Hill Hospital in New York.
“The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true,” a spokesperson for the hospital tells TMZ. Whispers of an overwhelming security operation have been exaggerated, the hospital rep also states.
Rumours have spread over the past week that a new father of premature twins was repeatedly stopped by Bey’s security from seeing his babies, but this report has since been rubbished by the hospital who claimed they have received “no complaints”.
The hospital goes on to say, “Lennox Hill Hospital takes patient privacy and security very seriously. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations. Our executive suites are available for any patient.
“The family does have its own security detail on site. However, the hospital has been and continues to be in control of managing all security at the facility. We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days.”
But yet more allegations have been made, this time by a group of disgruntled mothers who, according to TMZ, have been meeting to breastfeed their newborns and plotting about suing the hospital – they feel that they have been neglected due to Beyonce’s allegedly high maintenance birth.
Fake pregnancy
Beyonce, 30, and Jay-Z, 42, had previously been plagued by cruel claims that Beyonce was faking her own pregnancy after appearing on Australian TV show Sunday Night back in November, while her baby bump appeared to ‘collapse’. Of course these rumours were not true and Beyonce was forced to deny the claims.
There have been so many conflicting reports and rumours surrounding the birth of little Blue, which began long before she was born, so we’re not surprised that her birth would be surrounded in a little controversy.
We think the most important thing is that mother and baby are both doing well. We still can’t wait to see the little one!
