Gerard Butler is famous for two things, he’s a respected actor, and the love of our life. Okay, so he’s famous for one thing. Either way we were sobbing big crocodile tears when we found out that the star almost died in a recent surfing accident. The actor told Graham Norton about the incident which happened on the set of new movie Men and Mavericks. The actor's accident left him briefly hospitalised, but he still tried to get back into the surf that very same day! Gerard says,
"I was going to go back that day. I was actually in the ambulance and wanted to go back, which was a little crazy, but it's pretty addictive...This was maybe one of the few times that the reports were not exaggerated. It was a pretty close call... [The waves] just took me and I couldn't get up. It was pretty hairy...In the movie, I put in a scene about a 'two wave hold down', when you are down for so long that the next wave comes over before you get back up, and that's what happened to me."
We’ve suffered a similar incident, but it was when we got stuck in the swimming pool rapids on a girls holiday to Butlins. Either way we think Gerard’s story tops ours. The actor went on to say,
"They finally grabbed me just as another huge wave was coming in. It was just like a movie! In fact, everything I talked about happening in the movie happened to me."
Well we’re glad you’re fine now Gerard, but if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, come and rest your lovely head on ours, *swoon*.
