Sadly 2011 left us in despair with numerous celebrity couples announcing their splits - Katy Perry and Russell Brand, Mark Feehily and Kevin McDaid, Katherine Jenkins and Gethin Jones all delivered the sad news within days of each other. But things suddenly started to perk up when celebrity engagements started to be announced with Marvin Humes and Rochelle Wiseman kicking things off nicely, followed by Britney Spears and Jason Trawick and then Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman. There are even rumours that Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge are also engaged as well as expecting their first child together. So it’s safe to say that a sense of calm was restored over the celebrity world… but rumours of a split between Johnny Depp and girlfriend Vanessa Paradis might change that.
Although the couple aren’t married, they have been together for fourteen years and have two children together, Lily-Rose, 12, and Jack, 9.
According to RadarOnline a source has said, “People around him are worried about how Johnny is doing because he and Vanessa seem so fractured right now. Johnny has started reaching out to lawyers, probably to quietly discuss how to get out of the relationship.
“They're not married but they've been together for years and have kids together so it isn't as easy as just breaking up. Johnny is so talented at acting, but he doesn't seem able to hide how badly things are going right now.”
Speaking last year about the moment he first saw Vanessa, he said, “She was wearing a dress with an exposed back and I saw that back and that neck, and then she turned around and I saw those eyes, and - boom! - my life as a single man was done.
“You have this feeling, I can't really explain what it was, but I had it when I met her. I saw her across a room and thought: ‘What's happening to me?’”
Needless to say, if there’s truth in the split claims, this is incredibly sad news.
