heat sits down for a quick chat with the billion dollar girl herself, Tamara Ecclestone. We talk TV, her favourite things and why she’s JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. Yes.
What are your New Year’s resolutions, and have you stuck to them?
Tamara: Well, my New Year’s resolution is to go to the gym, but… it starts on Monday, I haven’t been to the gym yet because I’ve just got back yesterday from holiday, so I thought I’ll start on a Monday, so that’s my plan, gym – three times a week, I doubt I’ll stick to it. I hate the gym… I’m going to cry.
You fronted your own Channel 5 show last year, Billion Dollar Girl, which gave viewers an insight into your life. How far do you think it has shown the real you?
I think it’s definitely like a snapshot of my life, I don’t think you ever see 100% of who someone is, but I think it showed more of me than people knew about me before and I think a lot of people thought that I was just Bernie’s daughter, and I think it showed a few other elements of my life like the charity work I do, the Ultimo campaign and it just showed my normal day to day life as well and umm… yeah I’ve had some really good feedback about the show.
What was the most difficult part about the filming process?
I think when I was having an argument with my boyfriend I really wanted the cameras to stop but then I thought, “that’s not a reality TV show” if you tell them to go away when you don’t want them there! [laughs] You have to be honest, and I think it will let people know that everyone has insecurities and arguments - and these silly things happen, so as tempted as I was, I’m glad that I let them film everything.
What are your future plans in reality TV?
I can’t talk about it! But, we’re having conversations.
We were looking at some of the feedback in the comments section of the channel 5 website about your show...
I didn’t know you could do that!
Yes! …Well we noticed that you quite firmly divide opinion, is that something that you’re used to?
I think so, I think that I’m like marmite, you’re either going to love me or you’re going to hate me. Not everyone’s going to like you.
How accessible and relatable do you think you are to your TV audience?
I think that… Things like sometimes you’re having a bad day or feeling insecure, or you’re having a bad time with your family, or you have an argument with your boyfriend or whatever, I think in that sense lots of girls will relate to that because I think that everyone goes through the same sort of rollercoaster of emotions regardless of money.
Celebrity Big Brother began last night on Channel 5...
I fell asleep! I was so jetlagged, I really wanted to watch it, I love Celebrity Big Brother, but I’m going to catch up with it definitely.
Would you ever consider doing Celebrity Big Brother?
I think I’d get quite bored, I need to be doing things all the time, I’m a very active busy person.
What do you think about other reality shows like Dancing On Ice, which is just about to start again on ITV1?
Yeah, I love Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor… Dancing on Ice looks quite dangerous… I’m quite a clumsy person! [laughs]

You’re the face and body of Ultimo – How much pressure is that to maintain the perfect body?
I think there’s no such thing as the perfect body, I think that even supermodels have small things that are wrong with them, like everyone has their things that they wish they could change about themselves so I think that you just have to try and have a healthy outlook and know that the pictures you see in magazines are often re-touched and… hair and make up, y’know - that’s not reality.
If you had to be stuck in a lift with either...
NO. I’m so claustrophobic, don’t make me get stuck in a lift, please! I won’t even go in a lift.
Hmm… How about a deserted island? If you had to be stuck with either Jedward, Katie Price or the entire cast of Made In Chelsea, who would you pick and why?
Jedward, because I just want to know if they’re actually really like that.
Whether they’re actually really mental…?
Yes! [laughs]
You said that your relationship with your dogs was the “truest kind of love” because they can’t understand the concept of money. How do you find that people react to your billion dollar bank balance?
I say that my true friends are people that know me don’t react in any way, like they don’t think about it, they love me for me and it’s not something I ever think about anyway.
What’s your stance on celebrity surgery?
I’d say never say never, but then I look at my Mum and she’s in her fifties and she’s had no work done at all, not even botox, and she looks freaking amazing. I don’t know… there’s a fine line, I think that a lot of people have surgery and they start to look like someone else.
We’ve heard that you’re a huge fan of the Only Way Is Essex, who are some of your favourites on the show?
Love it! Umm… [Tamara goes all coy] I love Joey Essex.
Seeing as you’ve both been dubbed ‘heiresses’, what do you think of Paris Hilton and her revelation this week that she has made $1.3 billion selling her merchandise?
That’s amazing, good for her. But I definitely think we’re two very different people.
What do you think about comparisons made between you and Katie Price?
I think we’re very different people.
There have been loads of reports of celebs getting engaged over the past few weeks, is there any chance of you and your boyfriend Omar making a similar announcement any time soon?
It’s definitely what we both want in the future but there’s no rush.
And what kind of wedding would you have? Would it be similar to your sister’s lavish event?
Oh I don’t know, I don’t want to think about it until he asks!
What’s the one thing that heatworld readers will be surprised to know about you?
I don’t know… I’m starving, I want to eat chicken nuggets, a cheeseburger and fries right now!
Tamara laughs, heat laughs, Tamara’s PR even laughs slightly before reminding heat that our time with Tamara is almost up.
We're going to cut to a quick fire round, it’s really quick!
OK…
So, cocktails or champagne?

Hmm... Chinese!

The city.
Tennis or… Formula One?
Helloooo Formula One!
Tamara’s PR interrupts and asks her to tell heat what she’s been up to today.
I had a really good day at the Tullet Prebon London Boat Show – I got to cut the ribbon which was very exciting and I didn’t fuck up or anything, that was good! [laughs] And I’ve seen loads of great boats, so yeah, It’s been a really good day.
Are you buying a boat?
I’m not buying a boat, quite an investment to make!
For a girl who claims to own more than 100 pairs of Louboutin shoes, Tamara certainly has her priorities straight when it comes to spending her billion dollar fortune.
