Thanks to her starring role in new sit-com New Girl Zooey Deschanel is the It Girl of the moment – but she wasn’t always so popular.
The 500 Days Of Summer actress has revealed in a new interview with Allure magazine that she was picked on at school, “Girls [would] spit in my face. People were so mean to me, I'd cry every day.”
It’s fair to say that super-cute Zooey is having the last laugh now.

As for her It Girl status, Zooey laughs off the tag, telling the magazine, “It Girl is supposed to be something that only lasts a certain amount of time. They keep calling me an ‘It Girl’ and at this point it makes me laugh, because they've done that so many times: ‘You're it’, ‘You're not it’. What is ‘It’?”
Healthy
The kooky actress also had her say on weight issues, admitting that her slim but healthy frame might seem usual Hollywood, “Some people around me, they're like 89 pounds. I'm not going to say I'm a big girl. I'm a very small person, but I'm a healthy weight. That might be a little weird for Hollywood.”
