We love Adele exactly as she is, (how very Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones) but fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld reckons that the Someone Like You singer has a less than perfect figure.
The Chanel boss was asked for his thoughts about female singers of the moment when guest-editing Metro New York, and while he revealed that he’s not a huge fan of girl-of-the-moment Lana Del Rey he also dropped the offensive Adele bombshell.
“I prefer Adele and Florence Welch [to Del Rey],” said the fashion icon. “But as a modern singer, she is not bad. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”
For a man who has worked in high fashion and with super-skinny models for his entire career we’re amazed his thoughts on Adele’s figure weren’t actually even more scathing. And at least he agrees that Adele is beautiful.
Adele has graced the cover of Vogue, so some fashion types obviously aren’t concerned with her size.
