Even though bandmates Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts have each brought out solo material, Girls Aloud star Kimberly Walsh has no plans to bring out her own.
When asked by The Metro whether she’s planning her own solo album, Kimberly, who is currently starring in Shrek: The Musical in the London, said, “No. It’s nice some of the girls have explored their passions through their solo albums but it’s not something I’m looking to do. I’m happy following my own ventures. I love performing, I love acting and presenting. I want to do other things.
“What I’ve achieved musically with the girls is amazing and I’m happy with that. I applied for Popstars because I wanted to be in a group. I love having that support and with Shrek I also have a cast of people supporting me and to have banter with, which I love.”
Speaking about appearing as Princess Fiona in Shrek, after taking over the role from Amanda Holden, she said, “It’s going well. I’ve done four months and I’m in it until the end of May. It’s hard work but nice. I trained at a stage school from the age of five and always did musicals as a kid – I was in Les Misérables and Evita and didn’t have a chance to do it professionally until now. It’s like going back to my roots. I love theatre.
“I enjoy the challenge of performing live every day. It’s a lot of pressure to perform to the same standard every single day.”
Girls Aloud are planning on reuniting this year to celebrate their ten years together, however, when asked what their plans might include Kimberley remained tightlipped, saying, “I’ve read a lot of speculation, which hasn’t been accurate. We’ll tell everyone in good time.”
Oh, but we want to know NOW!
