Naomi Watts says that she is “honoured” is to play Princess Diana in a new biopic. 15 years after the tragic death of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mum, her life is to be commemorated by Hollywood.
The Oscar-nominated actress said of her leading role: “It is such an honour to be able to play this iconic role – Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen.”
According to The Guardian, the talent won’t only come from the King Kong star, but from director Oliver Hirschbiegel, whose previous work includes grim Nazi movie Downfall. He said: “I am delighted to have such a truly exceptional acress who embodies the warmth, humanity and empathy of such a global icon as Princess Diana.”
The film, which is to be called Caught In Flight, will show the last two years of Diana's life. According to the blub, it will show her finding true happiness for the first time and achieving success as an international campaigner and humanitarian.
