We are waking up to some very sad news this morning guys. Legendary singer and actress Whitney Houston has been found dead. The I Will Always Love You singer, aged just 48-years-old, was found in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles where she had been staying as a guest.
Whitney’s passing was confirmed during the early hours of this morning with police spokesman Mark Rosen telling reporters that the star was found "unresponsive" and was pronounced dead at 3.55pm LA time (11.55pm GMT). She was found in her fourth-floor hotel room. It is thought she was found by her bodyguard just 35 minutes before at 3.20pm.
Mr Rosen also said that members of hotel security, the LA fire department and paramedics had tried to resuscitate the star but sadly they were unable to. He also added there were “no obvious signs of criminal intent”, although her cause of death is still very unclear.
"She has been positively identified by friends and family that were with her at the hotel, and next of kin have already been notified," he said.
Whitney Houston has been the most-celebrated female singer of our generation, winning an amazing 400 awards in her name. She was also a six-times Grammy winner. A wonderful achievement.

Tonight, Whitney was due to attend the prestigious Grammy Awards celebrations in LA. Organisers have now said they will hold a special tribute to her. Jennifer Hudson will be holding the tribute. It is thought that Whitney's ex-husband Bobby Brown will perform at the event.
Whitney was also due to perform at a pre-Grammy party held by record producer and Whitney's mentor Clive Davis last night.
What terribly sad news! Tributes to the star are already flooding in and you can read some of them and leave your own right here. We’re in a bit of shock at heat towers – and we’re sure you are too. We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
Whitney Houston, Rest In Peace.
