X Factor's Marcus Collins Wants Children

X Factor finalist Marcus Collins has opened up about his dreams for the future and admitted that at some point he would love to be a dad.

Speaking to The Metro, the singer revealed, “I’m absolutely a family guy and I will have a family one day. I would like to be a dad.”

Marcus was truthful about his sexuality on The X Factor, coming out as gay. He admits that while that did see him getting abuse from some viewers, he feels happy for having done so. He said, “I always feel frightened that something will be used – not used negatively – but not looked at favourably or in a positive light. I think that was just me getting used to people’s reactions of being gay."

“I just wanted to stay true to myself all the way through and I think the public saw that and saw the honesty and had a quiet respect for it. It’s a really difficult subject to talk about but people look at any opportunity at the perfect minute.

‘It’s so easy to judge. People are still making comments to me and I still get phone calls of people giving me abuse. Literally, today I’ve had someone ringing me up harassing me, giving me grief down the phone. I’m not even going to rise to it.

“They can just try and pull you down but there’s going to be people out there who, no matter what you do, you are never going to please, so I’ve really learnt to control it and just to rise above. Once you learn to just accept that, there is nothing you can do or say that is going to please these people.”

Marcus’ first single is a cover of The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army, which is released March 4.
