The traditional gift for a first wedding anniversary is paper – Prince William and Kate Middleton will have to settle for wax.
New waxworks of the couple have been unveiled at Madame Tussauds, just ahead of their first anniversary.
Capturing the moment that Wills and Kate announced their engagement, the waxy Kate wears a replica for the stunning Issa dress, which was created by the team who made the original worn by Kate. The replica Duchess of Cambridge also wears a recreation of the sapphire engagement ring once owned by Princess Dianna given to her by William.
Wills’ wax figure is an updated version of the Prince’s previous statue, while this is the first waxwork of Kate. Each waxwork cost £150,000, and a team of artists spent four months making the new Kate and William.
“We are delighted to welcome the Duke and Duchess to Madame Tussauds London,” Liz Edwards, PR Manager at Madame Tussauds London has commented.
“They are one of the most famous and best loved couples in the World and Catherine has rapidly become one of the most stylish women on the international stage.
“We know our guests are going to relish the opportunity to get up close to them and join them in celebrating their first wedding anniversary later this month.”
