A new trailer for Kristen Stewart’s latest film, Snow White and the Huntsman, has been shared online – and it’s getting us extremely excited for its release in June.
Kristen Stewart takes on the role of Snow White, with Chris Hemsworth (Yes, the guy who plays Thor) as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron as Ravenna, the wicked stepmother who fears she’ll be replaced as ‘the fairest of them all’.
The film, which is directed by Rupert Sanders, also stars Lily Cole, Ian McShane, Nick Frost and Bob Hoskins.
The classic fairytale story is being retold in a way that’ll see Snow White appear as more of an action hero. Speaking to the Today show about the twist, Kristen said, “It had a reason though. It never felt like it was a movie where you were just trying to have a strong female character being bad-ass.
“You want to join the cause and like any good script that you read, I believed in it so much and considering it's a fairytale based in a very unreal world, that says something about the characters.”
When prompted that the retelling was a ‘dark’ twist on the story, Charlize responded, “Dark is a dangerous word maybe. I think it’s a retelling that feels a little bit more grounded in reality, and yes, it has darker tones to it, but I think more than that it’s like a great adventure, big, epic scale, film.”
Snow White and the Huntsman opens in cinema on 1st June.
