Ever since Sir Tom Jones was announced as one of the judges in new talent show The Voice, we’ve joined housewives around the country in waiting with baited breath for tonight.
And the day has come! Along with will.i.am, The Script's Danny O’ Donoghue and Jessie J, the 72-year-old crooner’s name will appear in glittering lights (or in neon or light-bulbs, we’re not sure how they’re going to do it yet) on the set of the new show.
Holly Willoughby dumped Dancing on Ice to present the show and hopefully her job will involve some stoking of the fire of Great Celebrity Bickering.
The Voice has been a huge hit in America with judges Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green and the BBC must be hoping to emulate the success this side of the pond.
But what's it going to be like? We’re sort of hoping The Voice is going to be a medley of all the talent shows. In an ideal world, we’d get a mixture of the following:
The bad auditions of The X Factor first stages; the claustrophobia of Big Brother; the arrogance Celebrity Big Brother; the queeny-bitchiness of Strictly Come Dancing and the flesh-slicing danger of Dancing on Ice. We don’t think that’s too much to ask.
Veteran singer Sir Tom joins the three other celeb voice coaches will.i.am, The Script's Danny O’ Donoghue and Jessie J. Although we know they haven’t killed each other yet, (and they’ve already buddied up for a group performance), how do you think they're all going to get on?
The Voice starts with the blind auditions tonight on BBC1 at 7pm.
