Rumours that Shame actress Carey Mulligan was going to marry her musician beau Marcus Mumford at the weekend turned out to be true. They got hitched at a very small service in a barn at Stream Farm in Bridgwater, Somerset.
According to the Mail Online, celebrity guests included Sienna Miller, Jake Gyllenhaal and Colin Firth, and edgy photographer Rankin was there to take photos of the ceremony. It was a very low-ikey event, though, taking place in a marquee attached to a cowshed. I
t's thought that the bride wore a white, backless Versace dress for the occasion, and Marcus was spotted driving himself to the farm wearing Ray Ban sunglasses. Carey's bridesmaids - all eight of them - wore turquoise knee-length prom dresses with blue high heels.
Although the event seems rustic enough, it was actually organised by Bentley's Entertainment, who put on Petra Ecclestone's mega-tacky wedding last year. Seems like they're capable of going rustic, too. Something which the English rose and the folk singer would have definitely preferred.
No word yet on whether Adele sang for the happy couple, but we'll keep you posted!
Congrats to Carey and Marcus!
