Cheryl opens up about Simon Cowell and her 'non-existent' love life

Cheryl, formerly known as Cheryl Cole, braved the wet weather this morning to make a visit to Chris Moyles at Radio 1. The singer spoke about being cut from The X Factor, her relationship with Simon Cowell and her 'non-existent' love life.

Cheryl and Simon

Cheryl opened up about her very public exit from The X Factor USA last year, but tried to dodge the question of how she found out she’d been dropped by saying: “I've enjoyed this past year making the record and having the time to do that.”

Cheryl has spoken in the past about wanting to put it all behind her. And now she's even back on speaking terms with her former boss Simon Cowell.

“I have spoken to him many times since. If you're asking if there were interesting conversations, absolutely,” she told Chris.

So The X Factor didn’t want Cheryl, but there was speculation that The Voice had approached her about being a mentor on the show.

Cheryl confirmed that she’d never actually been asked to work on The Voice, but wasn’t sure she’d have been able to do it anyway.

“I couldn't do The Voice if I'm honest. That battle scene freaks me out. I couldn't put two people I had chosen against each other – it gives me anxiety.”

Girls Aloud reunion

“It's coming up to our tenth anniversary in November and we all want to do something to celebrate it, so watch out!”

Where did those ten years go?

Our Cheryl’s love life

When asked if there was anyone special in her life at the moment, Cheryl admitted that her love life was 'non-existent' becuase she's too busy with her new album, A Million Lights, which is out in June.

“I'm not interested right now. I've not got the time with my album.”

We’re not sure she’d tell us if she was seeing someone anyway…

Geordie Shore

During the interview, Cheryl also revealed she's a big Geordie Shore fan, and the fellow Geordie admitted that her favourite character is Charlotte.

“It’s addictive. Charlotte is my favourite. It’s fascinating.”

Cheryl said that the show, which she admitted is her 'guilty pleasure', actually helps her to get to sleep.

"I Sky plus them. Geordie Shore, when I watch that it makes me feel like they have familiar accents and I can go to sleep. Is that weird?”

What she wore

Cheryl wore leopard-print jeans and fluorescent Pink sandals for her radio interview.

She teamed her sandals and jeans with a black, yellow and grey vest, and black blazer.

Cheryl’s new single Call My Name is out June 10.
