Imagine sneaking off and having a cigarette only to be caught mid-puff by your mum (it happens, trust us)! Well, that’s what happened to Lourdes… kinda… actually she was papped by a load of photographers and then the photos have been splashed everywhere since. So, even though she wasn’t physically caught by her mum, Madonna definitely knows now, and she isn’t impressed! Eek!
15 year old Lourdes (3 years below the legal smoking age) was photographed smoking while she hung out with her friends in New York. Speaking on the Today show Madonna revealed that she is not happy and feels that she may need to get tougher on her children. She said, “I'm probably not as tough as I should be. I think I need to be maybe tougher. It’s hard - every day is a negotiation, but cigarette smoking I'm not very fond of – for anyone.
“To be a single mother of four and to work as much as I do, with my life in a kind of metaphorical fish bowl. It must be hard, because I complain all the time. It's pretty challenging. But so far I've survived with sanity and humour intact.”
Ironically Madonna’s new single is called I Don’t Give A and is about how tough it can be as a single parent. Speaking to The Sun about the song, she said: “It's about the life of a single mother. It's a challenge juggling everything – multi-tasking is my middle name. I try to express that.
“Everybody has something to say about the way I live my life. At the end of the day I'm doing my best. If people don't like it, then that's really their problem.”
