The whole world seems to be obsessed with One Direction – so who better to reveal all about the boys than their mums?
And when we say ‘reveal all’ we of course mean shamelessly embarrass as only a loving mother can...
Zayn and the green dressing gown
Zayn Malik’s mum Tricia Brannan has told The Daily Record all about her 19-year-old son’s life-long love of performing,
“I have quite a few videos of him singing as a little boy but he’s banned me from showing anyone. My favourite is him singing I Believe I Can Fly wearing a green dressing gown.
We’re sure Zayn will be over the moon at his mum sharing that little detail. And we neeeeeed to see that video!
Zayn’s mum also reveals that she’s most likely to be found sobbing whenever her little boy leaves to go on tour with One Direction,
“When he leaves home I cry at the gate and he says, ‘Mum! I’m not going to war!’ A driver comes for him and I have to stand there and wave back at him crying,”
He’s very humble
Zayn’s not the only 1Der whose mum has spilled the beans. Niall Horan’s lovely mother Maura has revealed how Naill’s new-found fame is mind blowing,
“Niall’s was the only name I have heard being chanted in America it was especially nice because for me, it was great to hear that.
“It makes me very emotional seeing what he’s doing, it really is changing his life - it’s so huge. What else could a mother ask for her child? It’s mind blowing.”
But we don’t need to worry about Niall getting big headed, “He's a great head on his shoulders,” says Maura. “He's very humble. I always warn him to be nice to the girls and always chat to them and pose for pictures.”
The other boys are extended family
Liam Payne’s mum Karen has also spoken about her son’s fame, and how she considers the other boys in the band to be family,
“I am incredibly proud of Liam and think of the other boys as our extended family. I was in HMV the other day and saw Liam and the boys on all the posters, CD covers and calendars.
“I had this huge grin on my face, thinking ‘That’s my son’. You have to pinch yourself because it doesn’t feel real.
“Now we have screaming girls outside our window.”
