Comedian Russell Kane has revealed that his self-loathing (he regularly pokes fun at himself) was originally used as a defence mechanism at school, but now he gladly uses it for laughs.
Speaking to The Sun, he said, “I learned at school that so long as you loathe yourself more than everyone else, they can’t win. Now I just use it to get laughs.
“I’m a lucky little jester with a collagen imbalance. It means I look young, am flexible and have lustrous hair. Gutted ladies, please don’t punch me.”
Russell may be single but it seems he has his hands full with his pets – two cats and a dog. He joked, “Obviously being the single dad of a pug takes planning, but I love them all dearly. Slightly tragic but they are my constants. Oh — and my mum. Love you, Mum.
“All three sit on command at the same time, then high-five. Cross-species synchronised trickery is not easy to achieve.”
Showing his wilder side, he admitted, “I love the sea and I love cockles. BTW, I’m also a monstrous p***head who enjoys orgies and raves. I like tea, too. And the speed limit.”
Russell is about to release his first book, with Simon & Schuster, which is about a comedy critic who has never laughed. When asked what makes him laugh his head off, he replied, “That’s easy. When one of the cats runs around the flat with half a poo hanging from their bum. Awesome fun.”
