Donna Summer has passed away after a long battle with cancer aged just 63. Donna decided to keep her ill health a secret while she worked on her last album.
Donna, real name LaDonna Gaines, gained pop super stardom thanks to iconic songs like Hot Stuff and Last Dance that defined the sound of the 70s and the 80s. She also won five Grammy Awards and had three consecutive albums reach number one in the US.
Donna married Helmuth Sommer in 1973 and had daughter Mimi the same year. Sadly the marriage broke down and the couple were divorced in 1975.
She then married Bruce Sudano in 1980 and had two daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda.
Since moving to Nashville with her family in 1994, Donna had been taking time out from showbusiness to focus on her favourite hobby, painting.
