Cheryl Cole has hit out at rumours that a song from her new album A Million Lights is aimed at her ex-husband Ashley Cole.
The whole world assumed Screw You was about Cheryl’s unfaithful footballing ex Ashley, but we guess we were wrong.
“I didn’t have him in mind. But I can see how it is interpreted that way, of course,” Cheryl said of the potty-mouthed tune.
The Screw You lyrics include:
Can’t believe all the shit I did for you,
Was so caught up in the love I felt for ya
I was never enough, I never got your love.
I loved you so much but you never gave a f*** so screw you
I can still remember our first date,
Never thought I would scream I hate ya.
When asked how she’d feel if Ashley had sung the same lines about her, she joked: “It would be pretty bad as he is tone deaf — he can’t hit a note!”
We think you might be missing the point there, Chezza…
Cheating ex-husbands aside, Cheryl stormed to number one on the iTunes chart today with new single Call My Name.
She took to Twitter earlier to express her happiness at reaching the top spot, despite the song only being released at midnight.
“I CANT BELIEVE WHAT I AM SEEING.. How can Call My Name be no 1 on itunes and i only put it out at Midnight...”
She added: “You lot are UNBELIEVABLE.”
So if it's not about Ashley, who do you think Screw You is about?
