Lauryn Hill pleads guilty to tax evasion charges

Lauryn Hill has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges. The former Fuugees member and eight-time Grammy-winning singer admitted to not paying federal taxes over 3 years on more than 1.5 million dollars.

Lauryn didn't file tax returns from 2005 - 2007 which means that the star could face a maximum one-year sentence after being charged only three weeks ago.

The singer appeared in court today but as she left declined to comment on the matter. However in court her attorney, Nathan Hocman, revealed in court that Lauryn was planning on paying back the tax that she owes.

In court, Lauryn confessed to not paying taxes on $818,000 she earned in 2005, $222,000 in 2006 and $761,000 in 2007.

The singer enjoyed enormous success from her debut album 'The Miseducaton of Lauryn Hill', which also earnt the star her bundle of Grammy awards. But it appears as though Lauryn has had enough of the showbiz industry, as she posted a lengthy rant on her Tumblr page discussing her views on popular culture today, which she said included:

"climate of hostility, false entitlement, manipulation, racial prejudice, sexism and ageism."
