Ab Fab's Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders carry the Olympic Torch!

Absolutely Fabulous legends Edina/Eddie Monsoon and Patsy Stone have carried the Olympic Torch yesterday afternoon on the (fabulously posh, dahling) Kings Road in London, turning their dream into a reality.

Eddie, played by Jennifer Saunders and Patsy, actress Joanna Lumley, recently aired the final episode of their Ab Fab special series, which was based on the Olympic Games. But now the ladies have had their hands on the torch for real. They were seen half-walking, half-jogging with the torch around 1:45pm this afternoon and had a huge crowd of well-wishers cheering them on.

The actresses, both in character (look at Patsy's HAIR!), wore the traditional torchbearers tracksuit and ran holding the torch aloft together. They handed over the iconic flame after their stint to 30 year old Londoner Arjun Fasge.

The Ab Fab Olympics episode aired on the 23rd of July, bringing back loads of the show’s familiar favourites. The episode sees Edina renting her house out to an A-list celebrity but never actually leaving herself, and Patsy trying to squeeze herself into Eddie’s body suit with hilarious results.

The show also saw the duo running for glory in the Olympics stadium and gatecrashing an Olympics party in honour of Tanni Grey Thompson, Kelly Holmes and Stella McCartney.

The last shot in the episode showed Eddie holding the lit torch whilst Patsy lit her fag on it. During the real thing though, there wasn’t a ciggie, or a bottle of gin in sight this afternoon. Much is the shame.
