He may come across as being a fair bit like Justin Bieber – he’s young, talented and pretty darn popular with the ladies, (especially our features team, Kay and Jen) but Conor Maynard says he’s his own person and ‘doesn’t want to be the new Justin Bieber.’
Conor, who shot to fame with his debut single Can’t Say No earlier this year, has said he’s getting tired of comparisons to the Girlfriend star.
“A lot of people had it in their minds that I was the next Justin Bieber. But I didn't want to follow anyone,” the 19-year-old told the Daily Telegraph.

“I had to find out what kind of an artist I was, because I had never been in a studio, I hadn't even written a song. I had this motto – ‘It's better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation.’”
Conor’s unique musical style
Conor – whose latest single Vegas Girl is due for release 22 July – believes it was him putting his unique stamp on music that got him plenty of attention on YouTube.
“I took covers and switched them up and did it my own way, and people became a fan of me rather than a fan of the songs,” he explained.
Mayniacs
It’s not just Kay and Jen who have become ‘Mayniacs’ lately. It looks like the entire female population are going cuckoo over Conor.
“It’s all switched. My average trip around the corner to get a pint of milk might include being followed, screamed at, having my song sung at me, pictures being taken.
"I had to move from my house because fans found out where I lived. Then this morning I found a little note stuck to my door saying, 'I live right across from you, can I get a picture real soon?’ So I’ll probably have to move again. It’s quite funny really.”
Yeah, it might be funny now, but see how you feel in six months or so…
