Since Katie Holmes announced to the world that she is divorcing Tom Cruise, everyone has been scrutinising her every move.
An Elle magazine interview with the former Dawson’s Creek star is due to hit the newsstands on the 17 July, and advance quotes from her chat hint that Katie was focusing on making a life for herself,
“I definitely feel much more comfortable in my own skin I feel sexier. I think in my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out,” she said, before adding, “I'm starting to come into my own. It's like a new phase.”
See? 'Coming into her own', a 'new phase'! They look like warning signs to us.

I know where I want to go
Even more tellingly, when talking about Tom, Katie made sure that the answers were actually about herself – once again inisting that she’s focusing on her own life,
“He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that.”
And now we know just where it is that she wants to go – the divorce courts!
An insider has since told the New York Post that as well as skilfully sidestepping questions about Tom, Katie didn’t speak about her husband in an affectionate manner,
“Katie didn't speak about Tom in a lovey-dovey way at all. She deflected the Tom questions and brought them around to herself.”

“I’m alright”
Katie has now been seen in public with daughter Suri Cruise for the first time since news of the divorce broke last Friday.
Yesterday, Katie and Suri, 6, popped out for some ice cream - Suri sat on her mother’s lap and lavished her with attention.
As the pair left, Katie said to waiting reporters, “I’m all right. Thank you.”
We bet you are, Katie.
What do you think heatworlders? Do you think the warning signs were there?
